Come to think of one of my 2cv's.
It was 1979, I had just made a 2cv out of mixing 2 cars together, had it ok'ed by the traffic department, but not yet painted, so it had a lot of different colors.
Was stopped by a policeman who thought it looked strange!
He could se I had used parts from different cars, and told me it was illigal!

I whent to see the tax and customs department, and they said he was right!
I was only allowed to repair the car at a certain percentage each year, and by what I told them, they could tell I had done too much.
I quickly got the car painted, so they did not have a case against me.

But here are the facts:
When you earn money, you have to pay tax, from what is left you pay an additional tax of 25% of everything you buy.
So, if you buy to many spares for your car at 25% tax, and put it on the car, you have to pay another tax and a fine!
That makes sense, doesn't it???

The taxman will always get you - imagine this - go to the post office to put something in the mail and they charge you 5% federal tax and 8% provincial tax - isn't it the government who runs the postal service anyway?

Well, I've seen David Letterman showing a map of the United States, where some of the states was in red, indicating wich states did not bring out mail anymore, all because of the financial crisis.
And a post stamp costs 42 dollars for a normal letter! :D :D

You mean 42 cents. It's actually 43 cents now.

We are very lucky to still have rural delivery - we can leave a letter without a stamp on it in the mail box with some money and the mail dude will leave change and post it for us. He does not accept packages the same way but if there is a package for us he brings it to the door. That is especially nice when we mail order something like a mig welder or top links for the tractor...

Letterman was joking when he said 42 dollars.
Hmm, Letterman and mail? :D
Think you should be very hapy you still get that kind of service in Canada Rebel.
In the old days in Denmark, the postman had time for coffey and gossip, but not anymore.
I have a picture in one of my moped books of a Danish postman riding a Mobylette wich he tuned to go faster, so he had even more time for gossip when delivering mail! :D

The postman (le facteur) rode his bicycle when I was a kid in France, and around New year ,he would stop at everybody's house to deliver New year postcards from family and would stop for un p'tit rouge (small glass of wine) and by the time he came out of the neighborhood he could not ride his bike anymore.
Check this clip, the postman and his superior are on the mail run to make mail deliveries more efficient and less time consuming. but he did not worked in this case.

I know that Jaques Tati film! :D
I got some bits of that clip, my french needs some working on
The postman knocked on the door the other day, and said, "I know it's a bit of a cheek, but can I pinch a bit of that lavender you've got growing out the front, only it makes my van smell so nice!"

The above clip of Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis is mostly in Ch'tis dialect from north of France. it's a strange mixture of french and some English words and is totally incomprehensible to the rest of the country. I can speak it being born in Picardy. Ch'ti is the name of the people from north of France.
It stands for Che ti, C'est toi (that's you?) World war one soldiers used to call each other in the tranchee that way.
My signature at the bottom is a translation of

Hahaha it is a lot like some of the Québecois language which english Canadians refer to as franglais.

Picardy?
I was in Amiens for 3 days in 2007, it was great!
I could feel people was proud of being from that region, but that's something I like.
I was there to visit a guy who had 2 barns full of Panhards, and got a lot of spares from him.

I tell you it was hard to say enough!
I've never seen so many different Panhards in one spot!
I had a list of spares I wanted, He went round and picked them up, and when I asked him the price, he said it was a gift! WOW!

Afterwards he asked if I wanted to drive one of his cars, so I drove the one in the picture.
It was hard to give it back! :D
The pic of the 2cv spelles FRANCE all over it I think.

It's so nice that there are still people like that in the world! Same sort of thing with my 2cv - "oh, and we've got a couple of spare bonnets here if you want them, oh, a bullbar, might as well have that as well...a pair of front wings as well, do you fancy those?

Beautiful! that's one of the earliest 2cvs isn't it? What's that top right hand corner, is it a wing mirror?
