Ill consider any panniers really, but ones like this would be great:

You might be able to find a nice pair of postbag or satchel panniers at a bicycle shop.
Or did you try Brian Aplin yet? He might have some originals tucked away at the back of his shop...

I dont think bicycle panniers will fit onto the rack, bicycle panniers have smaller clips than my rack (i have one pannier, but the clips wouldnt fit)

I might speak to Brian Aplin, but its also quite a hassle describing what you want and then paying unless you can go to his shop seeing as he has no email etc.
if i lived nearer I would make the journey down to see him but hes a good 3 hrs + away I think,

I thing George is going to Aplins soon - he usually pops by there more often then others here. Perhaps he could get some pictures for you. Or you could snail mail a copy of the picture from LeBonCoin to Brian Aplin and ask him if he has any similar to the style you want.

He certainly is!
Work is starting on my next moby project soon (More on that later), lots of bits will be required, I'll probably see him sometime before Christmas if that would suit?

Hi George

This Aplins shop in Bristol sounds great but, without knowing what he actually has is a little frustrating.

It's 163 miles away from me in Manchester which means the postage seems cheap from France after I have topped the Grand Cherokee up with Diesel.

Is he open Saturdays? I could only really go down for a look at the weekend.

Heres a picture from Google earth:

Id really appreciate it,

Hi,
So far he's had everything I've wanted, or been able to get it. Very happy :D

No problem about the panniers, and he does have carbs, I brought one of him, normal gurtnery type thing, brand new with jets etc etc...I think that was £60 for information, but that was a while ago so might have changed/not remembered correctly.

I think he's open on saturdays?
Got this from http://www.icenicam.ukfsn.org/direct.html
Quote:
Aplins of Bristol celebrated 50 years in the moped business on 1 June 2009. They still sell modern 50cc machines but, of more interest to the average IceniCAM reader, they also have loads of spare parts for Mobylette and Raleigh mopeds. They also offer an engine rebuild service. There's no website or e-mail, so telephone Brian Aplin on 0117 977 7376 or visit his shop at 395-7 Bath Road, Bristol.

Very helpful person :)

I'll ask about panniers/carb when I go up

George

And I'm after proper paniers as well :P They do come up on ebay occasionally if he doesn't have them...

Well for my bike the trip was a success :)

Pannier-wise though, he doesn't have any and no one still makes them...
Ones from a honda C90 will fit apparently...
And they quite often come up on ebay...

Other than that I would have thought the best bet would be to modify existing ones or maybe even make some from scratch?

Any other suggestions from anyone?

Perhaps scouting out the local shops you might find some very nice book bags or laptop bags. I have a couple of soft sided 'briefcases' which work well as panniers. Otherwise a bike shop might have messenger bags or courrier bags or an equestrian supply house might have some saddlebags which would suit your steed.
